Rory Gallagher – 40th anniversary release of ‘Taste’

Still sadly missed by so many, Rory was the reason why I first picked up the guitar. Even today I remember watching Rory for the first time on ‘Rock Goes to College’…he played with such passion and energy it left it’s mark on me as a young boy. I was listening to all sorts of music in the 70′s, Wishbone Ash, Yes, Black Sabbath, Sex Pistols, Sweet…and hearing Rory just captured my imagination. Time to swap the homemade cut-out of an electric guitar for the real thing.

This year see’s the 40th anniversary of the release of the first official Taste album and I’m looking forward to hearing how Polidor/Universal may ( still speculative ) mark the occasion.

One day I hope to get my hands on a Fender Rory Gallagher Stratocaster…I’ve played only one on a vist to Edinburgh and the guitar felt like it was the only one you had ever played or wanted to play. Maybe sometime in the future when the pound fairs a little better against the dollar!
